Sustainable family farm growing seasonal blooms for our local community. |
Poe Family Farm is a small family owned and operated farm in beautiful southeastern Guilford County, NC. We are dedicated to growing the finest variety of specialty cut flowers. Our practices include using small-scale, high intensity methods to grow the best offerings without the use of added pesticides.
Our floral arrangements are often described as whimsical and romantic. We create lush designs that incorporate a variety of blooms, textural elements and fresh greenery. Our peak growing season generally runs from mid-March through late October. However, even during the coldest months, we are constantly planting and tending to flowers that are coming into bloom. We use commercial high tunnels to overwinter flowers and to extend our growing season as long as we possibly can. The offerings that we have change throughout the year, depending on what is is season. We can also source blooms from beyond the farm as needed in the winter months (just like a traditional florist). We serve the Piedmont area and beyond. Find out how you can get our flowers here. |
Meet the Farmers
Lindsey and Robert Poe are the proud owners & operators of Poe Family Farm. Purchasing the farm in the spring of 2014, they have spent over 10 years learning the land and farming everything under the sun. From pasture raised meats to acres of produce, they really have grown it all. Some ideas succeeded, some failed. But, with their love for the land and their desire for a life of farming, they never gave up. With so many uncertainties that come with the trade, they finally decided to concentrate on growing what makes them the happiest...flowers.
Hi, I'm Lindsey. I was born and raised in the Piedmont of NC. From a young age I developed a strong love for nature and the outdoors. My Grandmother was a Master Gardener and an avid lover of plants & flowers. Under her guidance, I learned about gardening and various blooms. Many of times, I can remember riding along with my "Gammy" who would notice a beautiful patch of flowers in someone's yard and immediately pull the car over to knock on their door. After a welcomed conversation and usually a tour of their garden, Gammy would most often leave with some newfound plant knowledge and some gifted bulbs the homeowner generously allowed her to dig up. I vividly remember how those flowers always made her happy. They made me happy, too. Flowers have a way of adding that something special to people's life experiences. Whether it's the color of the blooms, the sweetness of their scent or just the way in that they were given to you, they can change any moment in an instant.

Hi, I'm Robert. Although, I do not have as many specific memories associated with flowers as Lindsey does, I do have a great love for farming and for our land. When we first bought our farm, we were expecting our 3rd child. I knew that not only was this land an opportunity for me to create something that could support my growing family, but it was also a place where we could raise our kids with the strong family values that were important to us. Over the years, I have watched my children grow and develop their own love for nature and the outdoors. I have seen the kindness they show when taking care of our animals, the gentleness they use when helping plant vegetables in the garden, and the joy that fills their hearts when picking our fresh flowers. These things make all of the difficulties involved with farming worth it. I know that this life is shaping them in a good way and that the values & experiences that they gain here on the farm will be with them all of their lives. Plus, I love driving my tractor.

Our Practices
Here on Poe Family Farm, we take every aspect of the flower growing experience seriously. From seed starting, planting, maintaining, harvesting to delivering; our standards are set to the highest level. Each morning/early evening, we gather our flowers during the coolest part of the day. We pick them at the perfect harvest stage for each variety to ensure that we are providing you with the freshest, most long-lasting blooms possible. After harvest, we immediately transfer them to our walk-in cooler where they will "rest" before we make them into bouquets or deliver them straight to our customers.
Why Local?
Did you know that 80% of all cut flowers sold in the USA are imported from other countries? That's right. Most of the blooms we buy are traveling thousands of miles from countries like Colombia and Ecuador. That means that before they even get into your hands, they could be several days to weeks old. Their shelf life has dramatically decreased, and they have most likely been treated with harsh chemicals just to keep them alive.
What We Grow
We get this question all the time and our answer changes throughout the season! We primarily grow annuals with plenty of perennials mixed in. We love all specialty varieties and heirlooms. A few of our favorites include anemones, snapdragons, stock, gomphrena, celosia, dahlias, zinnias and sunflowers! We also love using fresh herbs and dried flowers in our designs.
Where We Deliver
Flowers are available for delivery to the Piedmont area and beyond. We have a flat rate delivery fee for the Asheboro, Burlington, Graham, Greensboro, High Point, Liberty, Pleasant Garden, Ramseur, Randleman and Siler City areas. If you would like flowers delivered beyond those places, please contact us for additional information. We do not ship flowers.
*We are a working farm and this is our family home. In order to maintain our privacy, we are not open for visits at this time. However, we are in the process of developing ways to share the beauty of our fields with you. Stay tuned for any updates!*
